A star is born: Meet Emelye

Ayrshire Farm welcomes its largest Shire foal to date

Emelye and Windcharger Eclipse are shown in the Ayrshire Farm stables on February 23.

Ayrshire Farm proudly introduces Emelye, the newest addition to our Shire family, born on Sunday, February 18, 2024, by Mackenzie Preet out of Windcharger Eclipse.

Emelye is the first foal born on the farm since 2022 and Eclipse’s second filly. She holds the distinction of being the farm’s biggest baby yet, tipping the scales at an impressive 200 pounds.

Emelye’s arrival marks a momentous milestone for both Ayrshire Farm and the horse world, as Shires are considered a rare and endangered breed.

On February 23, we welcomed both mother and baby home from the expert care of our equine midwife with a small celebration – and cake, of course! Emelye’s birth is a significant occasion for our farm, and we look forward to watching her grow and thrive.
