Our Certified Humane® and Organic Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys come fresh and unfrozen, available to pick up at the farm the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ayrshire Farm turkeys thrive in a free-range environment, enjoying the outdoors on lush pastures while nourished with wholesome, organic grains. This approach yields exceptionally moist and flavorful turkey without resorting to artificial inputs, flavor enhancers, or stimulants. While the use of certified-organic grain and the meticulous care in raising our turkeys on pasture may result in slightly higher production costs, it grants you the peace of mind that no antibiotics, GMO grains, or synthetic chemicals are involved in crafting your food. HOW TO ORDER

  • Select Your Size

    Turkeys come in three size ranges: 10-15 pounds, 15-20 pounds, and over 20 pounds. Choose which one is best for your gathering, estimating 2 pounds per person. See below for more guidance about sizing.

  • Reserve Your Bird

    Secure your turkey with a $50 deposit. The remaining balance will be due at the time of pick-up and is determined by the final weight of your bird, which is priced at $12 per pound.

  • Pick It Up

    Turkeys are available for pick-up only at Ayrshire Farm in Upperville, Virginia (directions) the week of Thanksgiving. Pease check back for more details.

What size turkey do I need?

Estimate approximately 2 pounds of turkey per person, which is enough to account for the bones and any parts of the turkey you won’t be eating, and guarantee that everyone gets their share of white or dark meat — plus, leftovers!

10-15 lb. Turkey
Serves 5-8 People

15-20 lb. Turkey

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Rinse the bird with cold water and pat dry.

  2. Brush all the exposed surfaces with vegetable oil and sprinkle liberally with your choice of herbs, spices, salt, and pepper. Tent with foil.

  3. Lower oven temperature to 325 degrees. Cook 17 minutes per pound, basting frequently, to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

  4. Remove foil for the last hour of cooking to allow the skin to brown.

  5. Let the turkey stand for 20 minutes before carving.
