Fresh-Clicked Farm Goods
Our Products
We offer some of the tastiest half- and whole-animal shares of beef and pork in the entire Piedmont. All of our meat is processed in the area’s only Certified Humane® abattoir and is additionally Certified Organic, Predator Friendly, Sustainably Grown, and Local.
Raw Local Honey
Ayrshire Farm has its own apiary, where hard-working bees produce raw honey using farm-fresh flowers and fruit trees. We’re proud to share the fruits of their labor whenever availability allows. Purchase in person at Hunter’s Head Tavern and Locke’s Mill or add a jar to your Meat Box order.
We grind naturally delicious Certified Organic heritage grains like it was done over 200 years ago at Locke’s Mill, our historic gristmill on the Shenandoah River in Clarke County. Stone-ground grains have a more robust flavor and offer additional health benefits compared to commercial grains.
A mix of grass clippings, straw, hay, and fine wood shavings is combined with food waste and kitchen scraps from Hunter’s Head Tavern, as well as cow, horse, and poultry manure, to create an organic compost that is excellent in a wide of applications — from flower gardens to commercial landscaping.

Ayrshire Farm Organic Compost
A very fine stable compost, rich in nutrients and appropriate for use in gardening and landscaping, our compost is made with cow, horse, and poultry manure along with grass clippings, straw, hay, and fine wood shavings to achieve a final 20:1 ratio of carbon to nitrogen. The raw material is arranged in windrows where temperature and moisture levels are monitored daily and turned accordingly. These production methods comply with the National Organic Program, allowing our compost to be applied to organic vegetable gardens before or during harvest.
